Dr. Ros
Hi! I'm Dr. Rosalyn Y. Brown Beatty, owner and head clinician at Brown Beatty Counseling and Consulting. I am known affectionately in the field and by my clients, as Dr. Ros. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Ohio and held additional certifications as a Nationally Certified Counselor and a Level 2 Trauma Responsive Care Clinician. Additionally, I am an EMDR trained.
I received my clinical training through my Master of Arts in Community Counseling at Xavier University and my Ph.D. in Counselor Education & Supervision from the OHIO UNIVERISTY.
With over 19 years of experience, I absolutely love and am proud to be in the mental health field. I not only do the work as counselor, but I am also a counselor educator, mental health advocate and consultant to other therapists, leaders and organizations. If it touches an area of mental health, I've done it at some point in time in my career!
But the truth of what sets working with me aside from the rest... is not only is this my career, but this is also my purpose. You will feel that and know that no matter what capacity we work together. I believe deeply in meeting people where they are, encouraging them through life’s seasons, and helping them build lives that feel fulfilled, aligned, and whole. I sacredly believe that our meeting at this stage of your healing, growth, and expansion of mental wellness is intentional, and it is a privilege to walk alongside the souls I encounter on this journey.
With trauma responsive counseling, we learn about your past and current lived experiences, so that we can honor it... then change coping patterns that no longer work in your life now or for the future. Learning healthy ways to cope and make decisions, opens the door to live a more authentic life.
Not just grief counseling, but profound grief and loss counseling is provided here. Once upon a time, I avidly said I would never do grief counseling because it was "sad" and "scary". Then I became a widow and solo parent of two kids navigating grief. Not only do I "get it" but I am also trained to help those who encounter profound loss.
Sometimes you’ve talked about it, understood it, and even “worked through it”, but it still shows up in your body and daily life. EMDR helps the brain process experiences that never got a chance to fully settle. This is a gentle, guided neuroscience approach that supports healing with, helping you move forward with more peace, ease and insight.
We hear "women run the world" but what we don't talk about is the burden of trying to run the world, run our families, run things at work and be everything all at once... while life can slowly not know or remember who you are. This is a safe place to take the superhero cape off and be vulnerable. You will feel visible, heard, HEAL and be encouraged. The unspoken stages and rites of passages that women go through are spoken here. You will no longer be a force behind the curtain of life but the central character in your book. You (and not just your roles) are honored here.
You won't hear catch phrases like "toxic masculinity" here to describe men's mental health. Men are in a fight for their life! Literally and emotionally... This is a place to process the unspoken weight of being a man in today's society and finding your way to live authentically but to also be happy doing it. One of my greatest joys in being a counselor is helping men know and feel that their emotions do matter too. This is a place of learning to process your trauma, learn and communicate your needs and to feel what joy feels like existing as you.
All couples!!! Let's get ready to rumble! If you read that is a WWE voice and chuckled, you understand the ups and down being in a relationship can bring. I work individuals TOGETHER in all stages to find the way to communicate better, understand each other (and their trauma brains) as well as your attachment and love language styles. Whether you've been loving each other a few months or together quite a few years, couples need a place to learn to deal with complex issues and still understand your healthy (and only if it's health...) dedication and commitment to each other.
Yes, this is your safe place too! It was during my time of being a professor in counseling programs that I realized the need for someone who really gets the complexity of counselors not only professionally but how they balance life personally, and intertwined sections of both. The helpers of the world need a place to lay their burdens down too... that place is at Brown Beatty Counseling & Consulting.
A hidden part of society that if you're married long enough (or even short enough) someone in the relationship will become a caregiver in the relationship. Spousal caregivers can often experience loneliness, extreme stress and trauma from the care giving journey. You take care of others, now counseling is the place to learn to take care of you too.
The amount of stress experienced in today's time is greater than ever before. If you are feeling overwhelmed, over worked, and drained, this is the place to begin focusing on how you can make changes mentally and holistically to reduce your stress.
